I bought an old Casio Casiotone 701 on Ebay last month and for kicks thought I should record an EP with it as the only sound source + Vocals..
So all the drums, bass, chords, parts etc here are out of an old 1983 Casiotone. + a few guitar FX pedals to add a little variety.
In the thrall of Clicks & Cuts in the early 2000s I wrote a bunch of ‘Microhouse’ type tracks. Before I went all pop. Written and recorded by Luke Collision in Bucknell Street Newtown, Sydney Australia. circa 2000 - 2002. Recorded mostly with software synthesizers in Cubase VST 32, some odd N-I Reaktor patches I’d built and lots of little clicky samples.
I remember at the time it seemed to be this whole new golden age of computer music. Max/MSP, Reaktor, Pd seemed to be going mainstream - Fennesz, Farmers Manual, Jan Jelenik, Mille Plateaux, Pimmon seemed to be everywhere. Granular Synthesis was the talk of the town…..hmm what happpened?

After a quiet couple of years I’ve actually been pretty busy in 2009. Workign towards some sort of album in 2010 and possibly some live shows in London.
But if you are interested I’ve also been addin ga lot of Demo material up at Soundcloud for the last few months under the name Echo Clerk.
Remix of the Cold Pumas song
Cold Pumas - A Tempting Haunt (Luke Dsico’s Mix).. turned down for the 12″.
Met Shabs and Drew through a friend about Jan 2009 and have been occasionally doing a bit of Recording, Mixing and I suppose producing of their Cinnamon Antics songs this year. Check out their myspace if you are interested. I think most of those up there are my mixes. Candy and Misty Heavens are my favourites.
Picked up this bad boy from Bedford this morning. just need to find a table for it in the studio
I think its about 10 years old. 24 channel Inline Desk with 8 group Channels. Some of the pots are a bit funny.. crackly but I’m not that fussed. Sounds quite good. Bought a Behringer ADA8000 to get a few more Channels into the Mixer. Fun, no Automation.
Checking my webstats today I see that an old cover version of
AC/DC Jailbreak has apparently had 85,276 downloads since Oct 31, 2008 (when I last reset my webstats) thats about 3 months.
the weird thing is up until now I don’t think I’ve even really posted this cover on the website. That is so very odd.
Currently:
- located in London (E8) UK;
- may be recording/producing an EP for some locals;
- intermittently writing new songs;
- vague possiblity of getting shit together in 2009.
10 songs / 35 minutes all to be written & recorded in Febraury: http://rpmchallenge.com/. to be attempted this year. But may be difficult as I”m actually off to Morocco, Berlin and later Palermo in Feb.
